We are eligible to receive matching grant dollars according
to the information listed below. Gifts must be first-time of 25K or more or 5
times greater than a donor's previous largest gift to a Day School in one
fiscal year. If you are interested or know a donor who might be interested,

outreach will help our school off to a wonderful start of the New Year! Thanks

$5 Million in Matching Grants Available
·
Applications Accepted Starting November 5
MATCH
has returned! This exceptional program to attract new donors--and bigger
donations--will inject $15 million into the North American Jewish day school
system this year. The $5 million matching-funds pool will provide a 1:2 match
(50 cents for every dollar donated).
Which donations are eligible for MATCHmaking?
The 2005-2006 MATCH program encouraged 300 donors to give gifts
to 165 day schools. In the process, schools identified new major donors,
encouraged donors to boost giving, and funded "dream" projects that
had seemed out of reach. They also turned first-time gifts into lasting
relationships with philanthropic partners.
Mark Monday, November 5, noon EST in your calendar. That's when
an application form will appear on the MATCH
website and MATCH will begin to accept applications. Applications will be
considered on a first-come, first-served basis through Wednesday, January 9,
2008, 5:00 p.m. EST. MATCH recipients will be announced on or about January 31,
2008.
Important changes and details:
What types of gifts are eligible for matching funds?
Gifts
must be directed toward an eligible Jewish day school located in the
Gifts to non-day school institutions, even if they are for programs to benefit
or support Jewish day school education are not eligible for MATCH. Examples of such
non-eligible gifts would include: contributions to a local federation
campaign for day schools; a day school teacher training program at a local
Board of Jewish Education; a community foundation day school endowment
campaign; an independently operated scholarship program for day school
students.
Eligible gifts must be in support of program or operating expenses at a Jewish
day school in
Gifts to endowment funds at a Jewish day school or to an outside entity in
support of a Jewish day school are not eligible.
Gifts to support capital projects at a Jewish day school are not eligible for
matching funds. Capital projects are those which construct, renovate, or
purchase physical assets.
Please note that while gifts may not be in support of a day school education
project, endowment funds or capital, previous gifts by the donor in any of
these categories make the donor ineligible to participate (unless the gift to
be matched is a five times increase of their largest previous gift to support or
benefit day school education). These gifts will be counted toward a donor's
giving history and to the calculation of the largest previous gift amount and
may make the donor ineligible.
Matching funds are only available for gifts which have been paid after November
5, 2007.
Can a donor earmark a gift for a particular program or
purpose?
Yes.
Both gifts to general operating expenses as well as those earmarked for a
particular program or project at a day school are eligible for matching funds.
However, gifts to endowments or for capital projects are NOT eligible for
matching funds.
