Parent Teacher Association

No school can function properly without the support of its parents. The Solomon Schechter School of Queens Parent Teacher Association is an active, vibrant volunteer organization that plays a key role in our school. The goal of the PTA is to develop and maintain active parent participation, support student and staff needs, and reinforce the partnership between parents, faculty and the school. Through various programs and fundraisers, the PTA enriches the Solomon Schechter School of Queens learning environment, and strengthens the bonds throughout the community by engaging students, families, staff and administration.

The PTA is composed of dedicated parents who volunteer their time to ensure all programs are well planned, entertaining and enriching. Some of the PTA activities include: Back to School Falafel Under the Stars, Book Fair, PTA's Coffee Time, Picture Day, Purim Card Sale, Purim Carnival Passover Candy Sale, and Faculty Recognition Luncheon.

One of the major efforts provided by the PTA is the administration and coordination of the school lunch program. In addition to all of the above, the PTA offers many extras to the students, faculty and staff throughout the year, such as goodie bags for Tu B’shvat, Chanukah gelt and candies, Rosh Chodesh treats, and special programs for students.

Parents are always encouraged to become involved with SSSQ. Volunteering with the PTA is a great way to show support for our school while building friendships and creating an energetic community for you and your family. Children know when you are involved, and will enjoy seeing you throughout the school facility.
