SOLOMON SCHECHTER SCHOOL OF QUEENS

ART WITH MR. PAIGE

On Sunday, December 2, 2007, the PTA sponsored a Chanukah workshop.  Over one hundred eager children and their parents participated to create a menorah bookend and a Chanukah placemat.

The children painted each section of the bookends and then proceeded to glue the pieces together.  The placemats were decorated with brightly colored markers.  The result was a creative artistic endeavor.  Our own Mr. Paige organized and supervised the project which was enjoyed by all who attended.

The pre-holiday crafts projects have become a tradition at Solomon Schechter.    Below are some student impressions of the day.

I thought it was fun.  It was a good way for people to get together and create a nice project.                                                                                          --Hayley Alaimo, 6A

At “Art with Mr. Paige” you were able to see old friends that you haven’t seen in awhile.  It was a great experience in learning how to assemble projects.        --Natalie Zanco, 6B

I had a lot of fun painting the menorah bookends.  I also enjoyed coloring the placemat.
