Pre-K Trip to the Matzo Factory 2008

The children of Pre-K, along with their teachers, visited the Model Matzah Factory in Bayside on Tuesday, April 8.  The children first made their very own Seder mug.  Afterwards, the children were led to another building where they made their very own matzah.  The children were given a sheaf of wheat.  They separated the kernels and put them in a grindstone.  The ground flour were then sifted and mixed with water.  The children were given a piece of dough that they flattened using a rolling pin.  They then used a special tool to put holes in their matzah.  The children watched in fascination as their dough was put in a big oven.  A few minutes later, crispy matzah came out.

The Pre-K teachers would like to thank all the parents who came along with us .It was a wonderful learning experience for everyone.
