One of the most eagerly-anticipated activities of our school year is the Storytelling Festival. The contest offers our students in Grades 3-5 the opportunity to showcase communication skills by memorizing and presenting Folklore selections before an audience of their classmates as well as adults.
This Literary Unit also allowed the students to explore literature within the oral traditions from around the world, from ancient times through the present. Some of the favorite selections have ranged from classic tales to modern fables. The students chose a myth, legend, folktale or fable to share with the audience. Their presentation was judged on aspects including accurate memorization, voice control, pacing and poise. This year the judging was especially difficult owing to the extraordinarily high quality of all of the entries in the contest. Kudos to all of the participants - and Congratulations to the winners in each grade
